top five most expensive music videos

The first music video to be launched was Bohemian Rhapsody performed by Queen in 1975.As further research I decided to research into the top five most  expensive music videos made. I then chose to look at the top five most expensive music videos on you tube, in order to recognize what made them such expensive music videos to create.

#5 Guns and roses- estranged
This video cost around $4,000,000 when created in 1993.
When looking at this video, it becomes clear why this video was as expensive as it was. With the use of transition editing throughout the video which would have been reasonably new, and quite expensive in the year of 1993. Similarly, this video involves a lot of crops including guns, ambulances and police cars, which would all of had to been hired, which would of cost quite a lot also. Most of this video consists of a concert which the guns and roses are performing at, however the main cost of this video would have come from the narrative side of the video.

#4 Madonna-bedtime story
This music video was created in 1995 costing around $5,000,000 to make.
This video was Madonna's most expensive she had ever made. It cost $5 million, and was the most expensive video ever until Michael and Janet Jackson's "Scream" in 1996. The main cause for the huge expense thoughout this video, is because of the use of effects such as the one shown here, of a mouth positioned where the eye should be. This would all have been through technology, which at the time was reletively new, and excited for the directors of the music videos.

#3 Madonna- express yourself
Madonna reached the top five most expensive videos, again, with "express yourself" released in 1989. Similarly, to her one released in 1995, Madonna uses a lot of lighting effects such as flashing, and shadows throughout this video. "Fake rain" is also used throughout, which at the time of 1989 would have been a relatively new devise to use, and therefore would have cost quite a lot to use. As shown here, the effects have been used, to show the man, laying down and Madonna's eye watching him in the smoke. This effect would have been done electronically, and at the time would have cost quite alot to create.

#2 Madonna- die another day
This music video, created in October 2002, cost around 6,100,000 to make.
The main attraction of this music video is the use of stunts, and props throughout the video. There are several fights and stunt moves used throughout the video aswell as fencing.

#1 Micheal Jackson-Scream

When looking at the micheal jackson- scream it becomes clear why it was such an expencive film to create. The 3D modelling and the use of effects throughout the video, were not only very new and expencive at the time, but the comptuers required to run them were also top of the range, resulting in a lot of money being spent on creating the "in outter space" effect, by creating the look and shape of the earth and the universe.
