my top five favourite music videos

After looking at several music videos, i managed to narrow it down to my top five favourite music videos.

At number five, i chose Avril lavine-Girlfriend. I particularly like this video, as it contains both a narrative and performance view of Avril Lavine. Not only is she performing throughout the video, but she is also acting as the girlfriend, and the "better" girl. I particularly, enjoy the humour throughout this video, as Avril attempts to convince the "hunk" of the video that she is better that his girlfriend. Similarly, there is also a strong theme of energy throughout the video, and it is clear that Avril lavine enjoyed creating the video. Avril is in center frame throughout the music video, and is constantly privileged, throughout. I also really like the change of costume throughout the music video, as Avril changes character.









At number four I chose Busted- year 3000.

I particularly like this video, because of the variety of narrative, and performance throughout. The video contains the group busted playing both parts of the performers and the actors in this video, as well as including graphic cartoons. The video links well with the lyrics, as the whole video is showing what the world looks like in the "year 3000" which is what the song is about. I also particularly like the use of imagination in this video, of how they picture the year 3000 with women with "three boobs".

For number three i have chosen, the plain white t's - hay there delilah.

This video made it into my top three, as i particularly, like the way it is filmed with a split screen throughout, showing different scenes. The lyrics and visuals are almost complete opposites, as the lyrics reveal a loving boyfriend missing his girlfriend, where as the truth behind the video, is that he was a stalking the girl, to a point where she had to move away to get away from him. I like the contrast of this music video, where it could have to meanings, the loving boyfriend, and the stalker. Similarly, the use of split screens, means that you can see the performer and the narrative part of the video at the same time.

For my second favourite music video I have chosen, Nickleback- Rockstar.

This is one of my personal favourites, as i love the way in which it is filmed. There are several people shot miming the lyrics to the song, representing the amount of people who want "to be a rockstar". I also like the variety of different people used throughout the video including celebrities such as Nelly Fitardo.

Finally, my FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO IS THRILLER- MICHEAL JACKSON

I have chosen this as my FAVOURITE music video, as i love the dancing throughout this video. There is a huge link between the lyrics and video, throughout, as the costumes used represent a monsters and create a "scary atmosphere", to relate to the lyrics used.
