album cover ideas

I have now began to gain some ideas from other album covers which I have seen. I really like this album cover as it still contains the artist, whilst also containing the other person in the song. I also really like the way in which the woman has eye contact with the camera, where as the man is focusing purely on her. This also reveals a link and attraction between the both of them. From this album cover I have gained the idea of having both Megan and charlie on the front cover. This will not only represent the artist, but will also represent the song, and the music video. I also really like the idea of one person being positioned behind the other. This would work really well for our digipack to show the change and distance between the two.

With this idea in mind, I have been looking online at images of couples, ad found the above two images. I chose to look at these two images, as I believe they could be used to show a relationship really well on a front cover. However, I must remember that this song is about a couple which have separated. Therefore, with this in mind, these images could be used, however, there would be a need to show the separation somehow. I have an idea of having an image of the couple together, but with the girl faded out, by dropping the opacity of her right down in order to show her fading away or to show the distance between the both of them. I would use Photoshop to do this, which both Emily and I are familiar with.

However, we have also found some different album covers which are targeted at our indie target audience. I decided to look at indie album covers specifically to find some images of what other artists have used as their album covers.

By looking at these two Indie album covers, I have gained the idea of having a very close up image of the artist as the front cover. However, the first image does not advertise and promote the artist as much as the second as, you can not see his face. Where as in the second image you are able to see the full face of the artist. However, if we chose to do an album cover similar to this we would need to think carefully about the setting of this image. The other option for this album cover is to do something similar to the image below, and have a medium shot of shot of the artist.
