The editing begins

Today we began to edit the music video using Final Cut Express HD. At first we found this quite difficult to use as we had never used this program before. However after trying out a few different things, we soon grasped the hang of it. We used our initiative and learnt how to add effects and transitions for to the clips. We also learnt how to create the soft edges, by selecting the clip, and then choosing the soft edges rounded effect from the options. These effects and transitions worked really well to improve the footage and emphasis certain areas of the film.

The most difficult part of filming, was the clips where Charlie was miming, which we then had to link to the audio. This became difficult as we needed to spend a lot more time to find the right part of the filming so that it fitted well with the audio. However, after a few attempts both Emily and I became familiar with the program, and managed to work out where to put audio with the image.

PROBLEM: We came across a few problems when editing the footage, one of a few was with the audio clip. This often moved or chunks were lost when we were editing the footage. However, we managed to over come this regularly occurring problem, by using the lock button which allowed for us to lock the audio clip in place once it had been created how we wanted. This saved us a lot of time as it was one less problem which we needed to worry about.
