possible characters

We are now going to look at the possible characters to be used in the music video. We are looking for a reasonably trendy young man, who must also be quite attractive, in order to appeal to the female audience. However, when looking for someone to play this part, they must also be able to get into character, and show emotion, such as ANGER, FEAR, and LOVE. He must also be able to dress as we need him to dress for the character, therefore it would be helpful, if the character has all of these features, and already has the wardrobe which we want him to wear. The main character, must be flexible, with their time, as we will need to do several shots involving him. This must all be kept in mind, when deciding on the characters.

The first potential actor for this music video, to play the main guy, was a friend of ours, Sam. We chose Sam as a potential character mainly because of his dress sense, and over all look. Above are two example photographs, of his, and potentially what he could be wearing in the video. Sam, is the right build, for the character we was looking for, as well as have the dress sense which we wanted in our character. However, we need to discuss is his availability, for shooting, as although he does live close, we do need him to be able to meet us regularly for filming. Similarly, we plan to meet Sam to see how good his acting skills are, as we will need him to perform many emotional scenes, which may involve crying, or screaming with anger, therefore his acting skills are vital, to make this video a success.

The next potential actor to play this main role is a friend of Emily, Charlie . He is a possible character, as we have already spoken to him and he is very flexible with his time. Similarly he already plays in a band of his own, meaning that he is used to an audience, and being watched when performing. This would mean that it is a lot less likely for Charlie to come across as camera shy during filming. However I think charlie would be more suited to a performance music video, rather than a narrative performance.

The next possible character for our music video, was Luke. We chose Luke as a possible character as he is of a quite big build, which is what we were looking for. Although I do not personally know him, Emily knows him quite well, and believes he would be a good confident character when filming. However, due to his work commitments, he would not be as flexible as some of the previous candidates, which would be a problem, for filming up London etc.

Our final possible character is josh. We chose Josh as a potential character as he has a lot of potential with the way he dresses, and he has already said he would be happy to participate int he filming of our music video. Josh lives reasonably close to us both, meaning that he will accsebile most days as he will not have too far to travel. We also thought he would be a good character as he is of the right build and shape and his over all look about him is what we were both looking for in a character. However, Emily and I have concerns, as he can come across a little shy. This would cause huge problems when filming, especially certain parts such as the "memories", where we can not afford for Josh to hold back. Similarly, Josh is very dedicated to his job which he works full time, making him unavailable for filming during the week even in half term.

After discussing these characters with Emily, with all of this in mind, we have chosen to use Charlie as our main character for this music video. We hope he will be able to perform to our expectations, and maintain to be flexible with his time. Here is the message of me asking Sam for his availability for our music video:

We also need to find a possible girl character for the role of the girlfriend in this music video. We are finding this task much more difficult, as we have found girls to be much more reluctant to perform in front of the camera, and we found most to be a lot less flexible with their time. We have narrowed it down to these three possible characters:

Above is the image of our friend Megan. Megan is a highly potential character for our music video, as she is the right height and build, which we were looking for to perfrom in the music video. She is also a very close friend of ours so it is likely she would feel happy to help us out with by taking part in this music video. Similarly, Megan also wears the right clothing which we were looking for our character to be able to wear such as jeans and a top or and cardigan. However, Megan does take part in a lot of swimming activites including training outside of school, meaning that she may be unavailable for filming on some days. She also works as a life guard, however, she is able to choose which days she works, which we are hoping will make her more flexible.
